Estimate a number nobody knows, then bet on where the truth lands in the crowd.

How a round plays

A question with a number for an answer goes up — how tall a giraffe is, or how many of the people in this room have broken a bone. Everyone types an estimate at once, with no slider and no hint. Then the room’s guesses appear on a number line and each player puts two chips on where the truth will land: on somebody’s guess, on a quarter of the spread, or outside everybody. The truth drops in, the odds pay, and the next question goes up.

What makes it different

Knowing the answer is worth a little and reading the room is worth a lot, which is why it works with people who insist they are bad at trivia. The shape of the bet changes with the size of the party too: a small room bets on each other by name, a big one bets on regions of the crowd.
